What is Microneedling?

Microneedling, also known as Collagen Induction Therapy, is a minimally invasive, advanced skin treatment.  A pen-like device glides across the skin causing thousands of controlled micro-wounds (micro-channels) in the skin. These micro-channels are created by sterile needles (micro-needles) repeatedly puncturing the skin at a controlled depth. This triggers the skin's natural wound healing process, releasing numerous regenerative growth factors which stimulate new collagen production, resulting in tighter skin and a reduction in fine lines and wrinkles. This controlled healing process also results in better skin cell functioning allowing for more even skin tone, texture and regeneration.

To make it simple, think of Microneedling as aerating your lawn (aka your skin). Lawn aeration requires punching holes in your lawn’s surface creating a path for nutrients to easily penetrate deeper resulting in a more lush lawn (aka more luminous skin).

Just one session of microneedling will stimulate the same amount of collagen that your body will lose in one year.

How often can I get Microneedling done?

For optimal results, a series of 3-6 treatments is recommended every 4-6 weeks.  After the series is completed, to achieve greater results another 3-6 treatments would be recommended. If the series is completed and you simply want to maintain results, a minimum of 2-4 treatments per year is recommended.

Consistent microneedling treatments throughout the year will provide constant improvements to your overall skin health and appearance. Truly, there is no limit to the number of treatments a client can get as long as they are spaced apart every 4-6 weeks.

What’s the downtime after Microneedling?

Upon leaving your appointment, most individuals' skin appears flushed, pink, or red. And may develop in the appearance similar to a mild or moderate sunburn. But still all while pain free. Skin may also feel tight and dry for the first day or two. Some clients prefer to not go out in public the same day after microneedling. Around Day 6-7 post microneedling, skin looks smoother and more radiant with a healthy glow.
