What to Expect from your Spray Tan

Pre & Post Care Instructions

Achieving a beautiful sunless glow starts with the proper skin prep.

Follow these instructions for an even, smooth & flawless tan.

    • Exfoliate & shave within 24 hours prior to your appointment.

    • Apply moisturizer on skin the night before your appointment and rinse off morning prior to appointment. Moisturized skin will enhance the life of your tan.

    • Make sure all lotions, perfumes, deodorant and makeup is taken off prior to appointment.

    • Any waxing or sugaring should be done at least 24 hours prior but ideally 2-3 days before spray tan appointment.

    • Tinting Eyebrows should be done 4-5 days before your spray tan appointment. The tint and active ingredient in tanning solution may cause brow tint to discolor to orange.

    • Book your mani & pedi prior to your spray tan.

    • Bring/wear to your appointment loose and dark clothing to put on after your spray tan.

    • During the spray tan process, you can wear or not wear whatever it is that makes you feel the most comfortable.

Some individuals prefer to be completely naked during their tan to avoid tan lines. Others may wear a thong and go topless. And some will wear a bra and/or panty or swimsuit.

It's truly what you are comfortable with and the type of tan outcome you prefer.

Just remember, whatever you do wear during the process, there is always the potential the tan solution may permanently stain the clothing since I will be spraying directly onto the material. So choose wisely.

    • For the first 5 hours post tan avoid any activity that would result in excess sweating.

    • Do not rest your fingertips on your face or body, and limit skin-to-skin contact with areas of your body to avoid color transfer to palms of hands for first 12 hours.

    • At around 1 hour post tan, make sure to wash your hands as advised by Nichole. And moisturize immediately after. Wash hands 2-3 times prior to first rinse.

    • You will rinse off in the shower 5 hours post tan or the number of hours Nichole advises you. Do not use a loofah or soap. Only use palm of your hands to sweep over skin to rinse.

    • Rinse in cool to mild water.

    • After getting out of the shower, make sure to pat your skin dry avoiding any excess rubbing with your towel. And make sure to moisturize the entire body.

    • Moisturize the body twice a day. Well hydrated skin extends the life of your tan.

    • You can still shave while you have a tan; however, I do not recommend doing it daily as shaving exfoliates the skin and may exfoliate the tan off faster. If you do shave, use a new razor and if possible use an oil or hair conditioner to act as a buffer between the razor and your skin as to limit amount of exfoliation. Make sure to use a mild, hydrating body wash for the duration of your tan and to moisturize each time after getting out of the shower.

    • Remember, your airbrush tan does not protect you from the UV rays of the sun. Make sure to be using sunscreen daily.

    • As your tan begins to wear off, you may notice uneven areas. Use an exfoliating mitt, loofah, or washcloth to buffer out these areas to blend.

    • Reach out to Nichole any questions you may have post tan.

    • Lastly, it can not be said enough, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE, MOISTURIZE!!!

  • This information is important to note after you receive your tan. But it is here for you to refer back to afterwards.

Have you ever noticed someone’s hands looking orange after a spray tan? I don’t want that for you. So here is the MOST IMPORTANT piece of information I have so your tan turns out flawless! Because as your spray tan artist, I can do everything perfectly in applying this for you. But once you leave, the after care you provide to your hands is all on you.

Step 1: 30-60 min post tan, wash hands. Avoid over splashing on arms. Only allow water on hands. And nowhere else.

    Step 2: pat dry hands

Step 3: lotion hands. Not arms, only hands and inside of wrists. The more hydrated you keep your hands, the better outcome.

Step 4: take dry towel and wipe palms firmly to remove tanning solution that was spread while applying lotion

Step 5: Repeat 2 more times prior to first rinse

This is SO IMPORTANT in order to avoid orange, over saturated hands. Please let me know if you have further questions the day of your tan.
